Since its inception in 2005, RESMAN has integrated its Intelligent Tracer® technology in various well completion components, per examples provided below.
INTEGRATION WITH SAND SCREENS
Wire wrap screens
The Intelligent Tracers® can be inserted under the wire wrap (Fig. 1). The screen is finalized normally with end rings being affixed.
The Intelligent Tracers® can be integrated into a drainage layer located under the mesh (Fig. 2); placed on the tubing OD by using industrial adhesives or wrapping filaments before the shroud is installed (Fig. 3); or if possible inserted under the outer shroud after the screen is completed (Fig. 4). Another option is to wrap the Intelligent Tracers with the wire mesh (Fig. 5) or affix them onto the tubing OD and wrap the mesh on top.
The Intelligent Tracers® can be inserted into the base screen (wire wrap or premium, as described above) or on the periphery of the screen, with or without a shroud (Fig. 6). The polymers can be affixed using industrial adhesive or elements to secure them around the OD of the screen. Another option would be to use slotted rectangular tubes to house the rods. These rectangular tubes would be welded along with the shunt tubes on the OD of the screen.
Screens with Inflow Control Devices (ICDs)
The Intelligent Tracers® can be inserted into the base screen of the ICD (Fig. 7), as described above.
INTEGRATION WITH COMPLETION TUBING, CASING AND LINERS
The Intelligent Tracers® can be inserted around the OD of the base pipe and secured by using a coarse wrap (Fig. 8), a protective shroud, or a slotted liner (Fig. 9), for example. The Intelligent Tracers can also be installed in a single layer or stacked (Fig. 10) and affixed to the base pipe by using industrial adhesive or other elements (such as tie wraps) before the protective shroud is installed. RESMAN has used annular-vented carriers with various well completion designs, including: multi-stage fracturing systems, slotted liners, sliding sleeves, downhole flow control valves, wells where sand screens cannot accommodate the Intelligent Tracers, etc.
The Intelligent Tracers® can be secured to the ID to the tubing by using a carrier insert (Fig. 11). RESMAN has used tubing-vented carriers with various well completion designs, including: multi-lateral wells, multi-stage fracturing systems, slotted liners, sliding sleeves, variable flow control valves, wells where sand screens cannot accommodate the Intelligent Tracers, etc. Additionally, wells can be retrofitted with RESMAN Intelligent Tracers. The carriers can be integrated into or hung below packers or set with dissolvable plugs (Fig. 12), at any location in the well, to monitor production and verify plug functionality.
The Intelligent Tracers® can be installed on the OD of the casing or liner with an outer shroud (Fig. 13) for downhole installation and protection during cementing operations. The perforating job would target the section containing Intelligent Tracers to enable hydraulic contact between reservoir fluids, the Intelligent Tracers, and axial flow.
