Installing Intelligent Tracers in your well

1. Manufacturing and Integration

RESMAN manufactures and integrates the Intelligent Tracers into the completion components at the facilities of the completion provider.

2. RIH

Operator completes the well with Intelligent tracers with no changes to procedure, no added rig time and no extra personnel.

3. Continuous Reservoir Monitoring

After startup, the Intelligent Tracers will continuously mark production from each zone with a unique chemical signature during the life of the tracers.

4. Fluid Sampling

When zonal inflow information is required, fluids samples are collected and analyzed.

5. Data Analysis and Modeling

RESMAN’s dedicated analysis team models the results and works closely with the operator to extract value from the data.


How Intelligent Tracers Work

RESMAN Intelligent Tracers are engineered polymers embedded with a uniquely identifiable chemical signatures that can be used to mark oil, water or gas production.

RESMAN chemists have developed  total of 172 uniquely identifiable chemical signatures: 80 for oil (RES•OIL), 80 for water (RES•H2O) and 12 for gas (RES•GAS).

The Intelligent Tracers can be formed into a variety of shapes to allow it to be integrated into a wide range of completion designs, including sand screens, liners, production tubing, pup-joint carriers, etc:

The Intelligent Tracers are either oil, water or gas-sensitive and are designed to remain dormant until contacted by the target fluid (oil, water or gas).

When contacted by the target fluid, tracer molecules are released by the polymer in very small quantities, at a lab-designed rate and independent of flow conditions:

Production from the reservoir contacts the Intelligent Tracers and the unique chemical signature is released into the fluid continuously, thereby marking it with a unique identification.

Production from each zone transports the tracer signatures to the surface, where production fluid samples are collected.

Information from each zone is produced continuously during the multi-year life of the Intelligent Tracers, enabling on-demand and repeatable measurements without risky intervention or expensive changes to well design.

RES•OIL™ systems are RESMAN’s oil-sensitive systems for high flow rates. 

  • Flow rates:
    up to 100,000 BOPD (higher rates can be studied on a case-by-case basis)
  • Temperature:
    up to 400 °F [200 °C] (higher temperatures can be studied on a case-by-case basis)

  • System life:
    up to 10 years

  • Pressure:
    up to 30,000 psi [206.8 MPa]

  • Number of unique signatures:
    80 unique RES•OIL™ signatures*

 

RES•H2O™ systems are RESMAN’s water-sensitive systems for high flow rates. 

  • Flow rates:
    up to 40,000 BWPD (higher rates can be studied on a case-by-case basis)

  • Temperature: up to 400 °F [200 °C] (higher temperatures can be studied on a case-by-case basis)
  • System life:
    up to 6 years after water contact occurs and for continuous wetting

  • Pressure:
    up to 30,000 psi [206.8 MPa]

  • Number of unique signatures:
    80 unique RES•H2O™ signatures*

 

* Final design specifications may vary from project to project depending on a combination of factors (such as flow rates, oil API, downhole temperatures, and fluids, for example). RESMAN chemical signatures are unique in nature and cannot be found in any commercially available chemical library. RESMAN designs in-house each of its unique Intelligent Tracer signatures, so they cannot be mistaken for any other chemicals found in production operations.
